Charles Ann Chatman, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 26, 2018, in Durham, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. Charles Ann was born in Lexington County , South Carolina on November 4, 1957, to the late Mamie and Charlie Chatman. She attended Batesburg-Leesville (B&L) High School and resided in Batesburg for most of her life. Charles Ann was employed by KJ’s Market IGA in Batesburg until she could no longer work due to her health.
Charles Ann was blessed with one daughter and two sons. She loved her family deeply, and cherished many friendships in the Batesburg community. She loved cooking, music and taking care of her family. Charles Ann was caring, generous, full of life and fun. Charles Ann was diagnosed in late July 2018, with stage four (4) Liver Cancer. During her illness, Charles Ann remained strong and determined.
Charles Ann is preceded in death by her son, James Tyrone Chatman and grandson Dajuan M. Coleman.
Charles Ann is survived by her daughter Dione Butler (Kenneth) of Fuquay Varina, NC; son DeCarlose Chatman of Batesburg, SC; eight grandchildren; Domnique, Desimond, Alannah, Aryannah, Ayanna, Jordan, Jaevion, Xiomara, and three great grandchildren; Kiyah, Alaina and Kyng. She leaves six siblings to cherish her life and memory; Prince Butler (Lorna) of Homestead, FL; Patricia Driver (Allen) of Rockville, MD; Evone Chatman of Batesburg, SC; Ethel Lynn Chatman of Batesburg, SC; Myrick Chatman of Charlotte NC and Steven Chatman of Batesburg, SC. She also leaves a host of relatives and friends.
